En este último tiempo me he reencontrado con algunos compañeros de universidad, y he quedado impresionada con los trabajos que están haciendo. Les iré mostrando algunas de sus obras, y el primero de ellos es Ighor Alarcón.
Es licenciado en Artes Visuales, ilustrador y fotógrafo, pero desecha la idea de denominarse "artista". Se define solo como un ser humano con vocación de ilustrador.

Cuando conocí su trabajo quedé flechada: sus ilustraciones
son intrigantes, hipnóticas y descontroladas, llenas de un dramatismo que
difícilmente sacarás de tu cabeza.
Lately I've met some of my old classmates from college, and I was impressed with the works they are doing. I will show you some of their works, and the first of them is Ighor Alarcón.
He is a graduate in Visual Arts, illustrator and photographer, though he rejects the idea of labeling himself an "artist". He defines himself as simply as a human being with a calling for illustration.
When I first saw his work, I was hooked: his illustrations are intriguing, hipnotic an chaotic, full of a dramatism difficult to get away from.

Expresionismo puro es lo que vemos, emociones oscuras enclaustradas en cuerpos que nuestro instinto trata de descifrar y generar empatía con sus inquietantes estados.
Intrincados sentimientos recorren sus obras. Seres extraños, algunos con aparente indiferencia y restricción emocional , otros con un sufrimiento turbador; nos convocan a ausentarnos de lo que aparentamos ser y nos remontan a nuestras más profundas emociones, esas que no nos gustan y tratamos de ocultar con sutil perfección.
Here we witness pure expressionism, dark emotions caged in bodies that our instinct tries to make sense of, and create empathy with their unsettling states.
His works are full of intrincate feelings. Strange beings, some with apparent indifference and stunted emotions, others with a disturbing pain; they make us withdraw from what the pretend to be and bring forth our deepest emotions, those that we dislike and attempt to hide with subtle perfection.
Casi como un acto psicomágico, Ighor trata de extirpar en el
hacer las emociones que no quiere cargar, y ¿qué mejor para él que realizarlas en un ambiente
estresante y poco amistoso como lo es el metro?
Para mi, un ejercicio de total valentía ya que un porcentaje del “público” no solo comenta, sino que lo interpela y critica de manera prejuiciosa al ver el estilo de sus ilustraciones.
"Mi trabajo visual es como una vía de escape a toda la mierda que venía guardando desde niño… uso mis “monos” como tratamiento para estar bien, y creo que ahí nacen estas imágenes siniestras. Es una parte de mí. No sé si llamarla oscura, no es algo que esconda. Es algo que no puedo expresar de otro modo.”
Para mi, un ejercicio de total valentía ya que un porcentaje del “público” no solo comenta, sino que lo interpela y critica de manera prejuiciosa al ver el estilo de sus ilustraciones.

Almost like an act of psychomagic, Ighor tries to exorcize in his work the emotions that he does not want to carry, and what better way for him to do this than in the stressful and hostile environment of the metro train? To me, this is an excercise in utter courage, since a percentage of the "audience" not only comments, but also verbally assault him and criticize him with prejudice when they see the style of his illustrations.
"My visual work is like a way to escape all the bullshit I've been bottling up since I was a kid... I use my "doodles" as a therapy to be ok, and I think that's where all the sinister imagery is born. It's a part of me. I don't know if I should call it dark, it's not something I'm hiding. It's something I cannot express any other way."

Esta serie de obras surgieron producto de un ejercicio creativo diario y cotidiano, en el trayecto del viaje en metro,como una forma de calmar su mente, y de manera natural afloraron estos personajes tenebrosos y solitarios.
Esta forma de dibujo intuitivo que se denomina en inglés "Zentangle" ( bosquejo Zen) es una forma de dibujar un patrón sin una idea definida, solo concentrándose y exteriorizando los sentimientos que surjan en el momento. Es una bella y creativa forma de dibujar y sanar.
Papel de soporte y lápiz pasta con retoques digitales es su técnica. Aquí les presento los "autorretratos emocionales" del chileno Ighor Alarcón.
This series of works are the product of a daily and mundane creative excercise, during the commute in the metro train, as a way to calm his mind, and these sinister and solitary characters emerged naturally.
This kind of intuitive drawing, called "Zentangle", is drawing without a patters, without a defined idea, just focusing and putting out the feelings that emerge in the moment. It's a beautiful and creative way to draw and heal.
His technique is to draw in paper with ink pens and touch it up digitally. Here I present you the "emotional self-portraits" of the chilean Ighor Alarcón.
